Saint Nathaniel's Academy

'With God all things are possible.' Matthew 19:26
Learn Together, Grow Together, Achieve Together

Welcome to Reception
At Saint Nathaniel's Academy, we have 60 places in Reception, two classes of 30. We have Early Years Blossoms with Miss Street and Miss Jackson and Early Years Willows with Miss Pyatt, Miss Finnemore and Miss Kelly.
Our children learn through play and guided activities. We observe the children in their play and use Evidence Me to make assessments, we call these, 'Wow Moments!' The children take part in daily Read Write Inc sessions and have 1:1 home reading weekly. We develop our writing through fine motor activities, squiggle while you wiggle, dough disco, time to draw and write dance. Our fantastic continuous provision gives us a rich learning experience through play and focuses on our key interests and our half termly topics.

Reception's Creative Curriculum

In Reception we teach our curriculum through a combination of planned teaching approaches and child initiated activities. We focus on the child and their interests and ensure they have fantastic, creative and meaningful experiences.
Our children love to learn through story telling, story mapping, talk for write, practical maths, forest school, sensory, exploration and most of all getting messy and expressing themselves.
Our topics have been chosen based on children's interests as well as covering all areas of learning and ensuring the children are able to have a variety of learning experiences. Our topics are:

Marvellous Me
Once Upon a Time
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Pre-historic Dinosaurs
The Secret Garden
Around the World in 80 Days
Gallery
